We couldn’t be more excited for this one. You can now enjoy all of the benefits of Buffer with an Instagram Creator account.
For years, we’ve heard from folks that they want to connect a variety of Instagram accounts to Buffer.
We have over 1 Million people who have connected an Instagram channel to Buffer, so we get this request a lot. We’ve been limited by Meta’s API only to allow Buffer users to connect Instagram Business accounts — until today.
Manage all of your professional Instagram profiles in one place
Now, you can use Buffer for both your Business and Creator Instagram accounts.
Making it even easier to manage all of your accounts in one place.
What is a Creator account on Instagram?
The Instagram Creator account, a unique type of Instagram profile, is tailored specifically for content creators. Launched in 2018, these accounts have been designed for influencers, public figures, content producers, artists, and personal brand advocates.
But honestly, anyone could switch to a Creator account.
Many traditionally non-creators choose to switch to get access to a few handy features. See, these Creator accounts offer a myriad of features that empower creators to better control their online presence, understand growth metrics, and manage messages with ease.
Instagram Creator accounts are distinct from Business profiles, with functionalities designed to address the unique needs of individual content creators as opposed to businesses. Features like detailed growth insights and a more focused messaging interface make these accounts invaluable for creators.
We’re proud to be one of the select few social media management tools that were invited to join Meta’s alpha program to access their latest and greatest features.
Recently that’s allowed us to help Buffer users stay ahead of the curve by offering full Instagram Stories Scheduling offering full Instagram Stories scheduling.
And today, we’re first again with the ability to connect your Creator account.
We’re thrilled to announce that we now support scheduling for posts, Reels, and Carousels for your Instagram Creator account. The only feature missing is Story scheduling—which is a limit imposed by Meta’s API—but we’ve got a solution for that coming soon, with Instagram Reminders launching in just a few weeks.
How to set up an Instagram Creator Account
Setting up a Creator account is a breeze. The process is simple:
- Go to your account
- Select ‘Account’
- Then ‘Switch to professional account’ if you’re converting from a normal account or ‘Switch to creator account’ if you’re converting from a business account
- Pick a suitable category for your work, add a link link (or not) to your Facebook page, update your contact info, and set your profile display options
Keep in mind that switching a private account to a public account automatically approves any follow requests. You can start a new Instagram account and turn it into a Creator account if you don’t want to use an existing one. Remember, you’re allowed only five accounts.
Here at Buffer, we’re focused on helping creators and providing all the tools you need to grow. This is why we prioritized building this feature and now offer seamless scheduling for your Instagram Creator account.
From today, you can plan your posts, Reels, and Carousels ahead of time, ensuring consistent content delivery and optimal engagement with your audience.
We’re eager to see how you use this new feature to boost your content game on Instagram. If you’ve got any thoughts or feedback, why not send us a DM to let us know!
